And that small list of people we claim to love also happens to be the same people who seem to give us ego security and comfort.
But love does not work this way.
Our love lists are too short! To love is to be awake, alive, and empowered in all of your life. To love is to be all in for all life. To love is to live in service as source. To love is to recognize and honor the infinite specialness of every being. To love is to love every moment and open to its highest potency and power.
When our sacred words lose their meaning, when we can no longer access the goodness, truth and beauty that they convey, the center does not hold.
We fall asleep. Our lives are deadened. The best in us dies. We experience the pain of loneliness. Our lives feel empty. Addiction, depression, starvation and violence try to fill the emptiness. The outrageous pain of the world is too much to bear. So we close our hearts.
We close our hearts, not because we are bad, we close our hearts because the gap between our ability to feel and our ability to heal is too wide. The gap between our ability to feel the pain and our ability to heal the pain is too much to bear. So we close our hearts.
But we only have one heart.
So when we close our hearts to the pain, we close our hearts to life. When we close our hearts to life, our lives become detours which are dead and depressed and destructive. We feel impotent, powerless and futile. Futility, impotence and powerlessness are the root sources of the failure of goodness, truth and beauty. But how can we keep our hearts open? How do your reclaim your potency, power, and passion? How do you wake up? You wake up by answering the call. You answer the call by getting the right answer to the first great question of your life.

Writing Outrageous Love Letters is the spiritual practice of our generation. In generations past, it was meditation or prayer. The Outrageous Lover does not try to solve the problems of the world. The Outrageous Lover thinks locally and acts locally, at street level, in relation to his or her neighbor. Outrageous Love acts from the bottom up instead of only from the top down. Outrageous Love initiates a viral self-organizing reality of love. The self-organizing reality of Outrageous Love is realized by recognizing that the Outrageous Lover is an irreducibly unique expression of the love-intelligence and love-beauty that initiated and animates All That Is. The Outrageous Lover knows that he or she can respond to a corner of UnLove in the world in a way that no other being, that ever was, is or will be, can do. The Outrageous Lover says to reality.
